Parent Resources
In this section you'll find some of the info featured from our Parent-Student Handbook as well as a link to download the entire handbook.
Absentees
Please phone the school between 8:00 am and 9:00 am if your child will not be at school that day. (unless you previously informed the teacher or secretary)
Recess
Please have your child come to school properly dressed for cool or wet weather. All children are expected to play outside at recess unless they have a note from their parents excusing them due to illness.
Student Dress Code
In School District 68, it is expected that students will dress in a manner that is appropriate and conducive to a positive and safe learning environment. Appropriate dress is considered to be that which:
• Is safe
• Is free of any reference to alcohol, drugs, gangs, hate,
obscenity, profanity, racism/discrimination, sex and/or violence
• Is not disturbing or distracting to others within the school
setting
In matters of concern regarding student dress, the paramount authority rests with the Principal, notwithstanding the right of appeal afforded to parents/students pursuant to Policy 3560 - Student/Parent Appeals.
Belongings
Please mark all your child's belongings with his/her full name. (first names only or initials can be confusing). A "Lost and Found" box is located in the school. Please check it regularly for missing items.
Shoes
Please provide your child with a pair of clean running shoes with non-marking soles, to be worn inside.
Money
If your child is to bring money to school, please place it in an envelope with the following information clearly marked:
• your child's full name, the name of his/her teacher and
his/her class.
• Value of contents and purpose
Ask your child to give the envelope to the teacher.
Parking
Parking on school property is extremely limited. Unfortunately this means that almost all parking must be on the street. Students should be reminded to look carefully for traffic and to use the crosswalk when crossing the road to get to their parents' car.
The service road in front of the school is for school vehicles and emergency vehicles only and should not be used either for parking or waiting for students.
The drop-off lane is for drop off only. The second lane is for drive through - not waiting or parking. Please take the time to keep all of our children safe. Remember safety before convenience.
Please do not leave your vehicle unattended at any time unless it is in a designated parking spot. Also, please do not park at the yellow line in front of the school at any time.
Space for the handicapped to park is designated just outside the front entrance to the school.
Student Pick-Up
If you need to see your child during the school day, please report to the office before going to your child's classroom. This helps the school to maintain security.
The front door of the school (adjacent to our office) is to be used only by parents, guests, staff and for emergencies. Students are to enter the school through their designated classroom doors or the back doors near the gym. As with many of our school rules, a few violations would not be a problem, but it is not fair to allow some to continuously benefit from breaking the rules.
When picking up students after school, please arrange a spot outside of the school for meeting your child, i.e. "gazebo" rather than inside the school as congestion results.
All parent volunteers should sign in the Log Book (in the office) and collect name tags. This also will help to maintain security in the building.
If your child's going-home arrangements are to be changed, please let the teacher know in writing or by phone.
After-school arrangements to visit with friends, etc., must be made prior to coming to school and the school notified of any late changes.
Before the cold weather arrives, please ensure that your child can cope with boots, zippers, shoe tying, etc.
Bicycles, Rollerblades, Heelies, Skateboards
Children may ride bicycles to school so long as they wear helmets, ride safely and obey the rules of the road. It is recommended that a suitable bicycle lock be used to secure the bicycle to the rack and that a spare key, or a note of the combination number, be kept at home.
Neither the school nor the District can take responsibility for loss or damage to bicycles however caused.
Please do not allow children to bring rollerblades, heelies or skateboards to school.
School Photos
Individual school photos are taken in the fall. Classroom and group photos are taken in the spring.

Many of the extra-curricular activities can happen only with the support of parent volunteers. If you feel you would like to participate in cross-country, girl's soccer, volleyball, basketball or track and field, please let the office know.
