Welcome to the Pauline Haarer Website!
École Pauline Haarer is located in downtown Nanaimo, BC, Canada. We have a community of 250 French immersion students, their families, 20 staff members and a very, large supportive group of volunteers (both parents and community members). Please use the links in the upper left to navigate our website.
WEEKLY REMINDERS Our weekly memo is posted here. Check our web calendar for up-to-date information on events and our monthly school newsletter posted the first day of each month.
KUDOS TO THE GRADE 6s: Congratulations to Mme Dominique's grade 6 class for their great teamwork during the Trash to Treasure art challenge at Bowen Park April 20.
ENERGY CUP CHALLENGE: Kudos to all staff and students for their participation in reducing energy consumption at our school. The challenge continues to April 30.
TRACK AND FIELD TRAINING: Our track club is running every Monday, Wednesday and Friday between 8:00 and 8:30! Parents and students at all grades are welcome to join in.
GARDENING: Thanks to Ben Geselbracht for donating some new wooden 'cookies' and logs to our kinderpark. The garden is looking beautiful thanks to Helen, Janet, Julie, Breana and our apprentice gardeners. The fencing is a project-in-progress along with our kinderpark. Linda Cowling's memorial pink dogwood is in full bloom and we have a flicker house by the kindergarten classroom.
PARENT SATISFACTION SURVEYS - Parents of students in grade 4 and grade 7 have until April 30 to complete the Ministry of Education satisfaction survey. Your feedback is helpful in identifying where we are doing well and where we can improve.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION: Thank you to all volunteers working with children in our school for completing the Criminal Record Check (CRC). If you have not done the CRC, we have an information sheet explaining this online and free process in the office. Please send Jennifer Mile an email with your name and birthdate when you have completed the CRC. The district then sends us completed CRC letters. Volunteer drivers must complete the volunteer driver information form in the office. We are NOT required to request driver abstracts-insurance history (though it is a simple process by calling ICBC at 1-800-950-1498).
