Welcome to the Pauline Haarer Website!
École Pauline Haarer is located in downtown Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. We're a close-knit group with about 250 French immersion students and 20 staff members. We invite parents, students and members of our community to use the links in the upper left to find your way around this site.
School Start Up - Tentative Updates:
The office has been open since August 25 from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm. As principal, I am at the school each weekday unless I am called away to a meeting and you are welcome to call the school at 250-754-2722 if you have questions. Please leave a message and I will get back to you as soon as I am able.
Students were scheduled to return to school Wednesday, September 3rd from 8:45 am - 2:45 pm. Until the teacher job action is resolved, our start-up date is unknown. However, the school district has announced that when teachers return to work, the first day will be a staff-only day and then our start-up schedule will kick in on the second day. Once I have this information, I will update the school calendar. Please continue to check the media, the School District website and our École Pauline Haarer website for updates.
As you get ready for returning to school, here are a few pieces of information that may be helpful:
1. Supply Lists for Grades One through Seven:
2. Kindergarten Gradual Entry:
Kindergarten students should have received a letter in the mail in early July explaining the Gradual Entry process and schedule. The revised letter here shows how the gradual entry schedule is adjusted with our first day back at school. If you are a kindergarten parent and did not receive a letter advising you of which group your child is in for the first week, please contact the school and I can give you that information.
3. Newsletter, Calendar, Student and Parent Information
I am updating the calendar as we receive information and have posted the September Welcome Back newsletter. If you look at the Parent and Student sections of this website, you will see I am gradually adding resources to these sections. If you have suggestions of resources to add, I look forward to hearing from you. Also, if you have positive suggestions and ideas for making this site more useful to our Pauline Haarer families and community, please let me know.
I look forward to working with all of you very soon! À bientôt, j'espère!
