Welcome to the Pauline Haarer Website!
École Pauline Haarer is located in downtown Nanaimo, British Columbia, Canada. We're a close-knit group with about 250 French immersion students and 20 staff members. We invite parents, students and members of our community to use the links in the upper left to find your way around this site.
WEEKLY REMINDERS Our weekly memo is posted here. Check our web calendar for up-to-date information on events. Our school newsletter is posted to the website the first school day of each month.
SCHOOL HOURS: Monday (8:45 am - 1:37 pm); Tues-Fri (8:45 am - 2:37 pm).
BOYS & GIRLS TRIPLEBALL: Volleyball season is up and running with PeeWee and Bantam boys and girls practicing and playing games. Check the web calendar for game dates and locations.
SEASONAL DONATIONS: Thank you for dropping your non-perishable food donations in the Hamperville boxes in the hall and for your gently used winter clothing donations. The clothes will first be offered to other local schools and then to Hamperville.
KINDER PARK: Thanks to students for raking leaves and covering the grass in our emerging kinder park. Next, we will need bark mulch over the leaves and more log slices to continue expanding our kinder park with the stepping 'stones' trails of log slices and other natural objects. Feel free to pitch in to help!
GARDENERS: We have put the garden to sleep for the winter, but we do need volunteers to help rebuild some of the fencing so the bulbs in the garden can come up in the spring without being trampled.
VOLUNTEER INFORMATION: Thank you to all volunteers working with children in our school for completing the Criminal Record Check (CRC). If you have done this CRC, we have an information sheet explaining this online and free process in the office. Please send Jennifer Mile an email with your name and birthdate when you have completed the CRC. The district sends us completed CRC letters but this process is faster if we send our list of volunteers' names to them. Volunteer drivers must complete the volunteer driver information form in the office. We are NOT required to request driver abstracts-insurance history (though it is a simple process by calling ICBC at 1-800-950-1498).
- ONLINE ORDERING for all PAC sponsored events is available at www.paulinehaarerpac.hotlunches.net. Register to order and find out information about lunches, popcorn special events and other fundraisers.
- PAC MEETINGS are the 2nd Thursday each month at 6:30 pm in the school library. All families at École Pauline Haarer are members of the PAC and are welcome to attend. Child-minding is provided by grade 7 volunteers. Our 2015-2016 PAC executive was elected November 12. Thank you to Jenni Burdes (Chair & DPAC Representative), Kara Brunt (Vice-Chair), Max Nodwell (Secretary), Debbie Green (Treasurer), Darrell Harvey and Sarah Reeves (Members at Large), Heather Vogels (Fundraising Chair) and Shawn Miller (Bingo Rep & secretary with DPAC)
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE - Christy Hunt runs our on-site Before and After School Care Program. Hours are 7:30-8:45 am and from after school until 5:30 pm.
